#CancelSpotify is a movement started by artists demanding something different:

Specifically that artists be treated as stakeholders by the platforms built on their work. Musicians are not content suppliers, they are artists looking to sell their art. #CancelSpotify is a demand for transparency, a demand that artists be able to see exactly how money is calculated and distributed. It is a demand for access, and the ability to have direct relationships.

Over the years it has evolved into a call to action for Spotify to do better. But it really is a reflection on the greater music industry and it’s inability to protect creators from exploitation and theft.

Our movement is not just about Spotify but for the entire streaming economy to be rebuilt from the ground up. We are not anti-tech or or anti-streaming. Fans want instant direct access to the music and artists they love.

Our call to action is to for artists to help demand a better way forward.
